Here are some of the things that I am thankful for:
- You’re always trying to find ways to put a smile on my face.
- You always dance in the car to be obnoxious...even when the whole world is watching you.
- You laugh more throughout the day than you actually talk.
- You know how to listen.
- You would do anything for me, such as giving up your dream job at the NICU when I was a baby because the hours were bad, and you had to take care of me instead.
- You love it when I give you hugs, and I love it when you give me hugs.
- You never make me feel incompetent.
- You are proud of me for more than just my grades. You’re proud of me for the person I am and am becoming, and you tell me that you’re proud of me, which is always encouraging to hear.
- You’ll bake me cupcakes, cookies, peach pie, or brownies just because I ask for them. There doesn’t have to be a special reason; it’s just because you love me.
- You never make me feel discouraged when I make mistakes; all you do is try to help me through them and encourage me to do better the next time.
- You raised me in a strong Christian home, which there is no way I can EVER repay you for this one.
- Even when you don’t agree with some of the decisions I make, you do your best to support me, and when I make the wrong decision, you don’t make me feel bad about it.
- You don’t mind that I call you a million different names: Bubba Gump Shrimp, Bubba Gump Desperaux, Bubba Gump, Bubba, BGD, and Mom.
- You laugh at me when I get hurt, which makes the pain go away.
- When you had cancer, you held me each night in your arms as I fell asleep. You were the hurting one, yet you were the one holding me, which just shows the type of person that you are.
- You let me talk your ear off when you’re laying in bed trying to fall asleep because you know I’m not a morning person.
- You’ll just look at me and smile when I start laughing for no apparent reason.
- You are always there to have a listening ear...ready and waiting with some advice if I want it.
- You laugh at the most RANDOM things, even when I look at you like you are absolutely crazy.
- You let me listen to Christmas music anytime that I want to, even if it’s in the middle of June (or today for instance).
- You don’t belittle my problems.
- You love me no matter what, and you make sure that I know that!
Obviously, there are definitely more, but I don't think I did so badly thinking off the cuff. I want my mom to know that I am so immensely proud of her for doing it on her own because I think she did an amazing job. We've definitely had our share of problems, but we got through them like we have always done because we have God on our side. I want my mom to know that just because I'm going to college doesn't mean that our laughing has to end or the talking has to end or the dancing has to end or the making of beautiful memories has to end. We are both opening new chapters of our lives, and God has so much in store for the both of us.
Sometimes I sit and cry when I think about how much I love my mom. :) AND...I know for a fact that when my mom is done reading this, she is going to come to wherever I am with tears streaming down her face, and I'm just going to give her a hug and tell her that I am proud of her.
This is what I felt compelled to write about today. So, for all of you reading this...go tell your mothers that you love them. It's just as important for them to hear it from us, as it is for us to hear it from them.
I love you, Mom!
